6 CLEVER MEAL TIME HACKS FOR BUSY MOMS

I have always loved cooking!

And my job is to make food every day that is affordable, healthy, quick, easy, and tasty that the entire family will at least attempt to eat! Eek!

Not to mention, I’m supposed to do this with a baby on my hip, 2 toddlers under foot, 3 older kids, and managing a farm.

So I decided to quit doing it all and just do what works

HERE ARE MY TIME SAVING COOKING HACKS SO I ENJOY BEING IN THE KITCHEN

SAVE SCREEN TIME FOR MEAL MAKING.

Yup! I am an imperfect mom and let my kids watch TV while I make meals.

Every night we come in from chores, the kids are starting to get tired and hungry and that means HANGRY will follow.

I turn on a show and everyone is happy while I finish getting supper ready.

This way I can make supper in peace without someone fighting or begging for a snack.

HAVE A SET MEAL LIST THAT YOU CHOOSE FROM.

We’re foodies over here.

We love to try new recipes, play around with family favorites, and have delicious thought out meals, but I can’t spend HOURS in the kitchen.

New recipes are reserved for Saturday nights so I have time to prep and I know we can all sit down together.

I keep a list of healthy recipes my family loves that are saved for weeknights and busy days.

These get put on repeat and we never run out of ideas.

CONVERT YOUR FAVORITE RECIPES INTO CROCK POT/INSTANT POT RECIPES!

And of course I use the age old, mama’s favorite: the crockpot/instant pot. I love them both!

They are so handy for when I’m in survival mode like in the midst of summer.

I like the variety of our recipes from our meal list. So I started taking our favorite non-crockpot recipes and turning them into one!

Just the other day, I took our family’s favorite Chicken pot pie recipe (which takes 2 hours to make!) and threw all the ingredients into the crockpot and you know what?

It was delicious! Now one of our favorite meals can be a regular part of my meal plan!

MAKE VEGGIES EASILY ACCESSIBLE, VISIBLE AND READY TO USE.

One of the criteria for my dinner meals is healthy.

I used to buy veggies and then find them half rotten in the back of my vegetable drawer….Sound familiar??

When I started using clear food storage containers, I noticed it was way easier to use fresh vegetables in our meals.

They make it so easy to see what I have available to use and no more wasting food!

MAKE ENOUGH FOR TWO NIGHTS.

Okay, so this mealtime hack we use you’ll probably either love or hate, but we love it…Leftovers

I double my meals at least 3 times a week. Leftovers are either eaten at the next meal or frozen for future use.

This saves on dishes, meal prepping, and is a huge time saver when I am in a pinch.

Ever forget to thaw out something for supper????

Well this will save you time and time again.

USE KITCHEN SHEARS

I would say I am a seasoned mamma.

And do you know how long it takes to cut up meat for 5 kids??? A LONG TIME.

I use kitchen shears for cutting up everything!!!

It is a brilliant mealtime hack for busy moms.

In less than half the time I can snip up all the food on the plate into bite-sized pieces!

Most of us have shears already just sitting around in our kitchen that we use maybe while prepping the meat. They are so handy for young kids!

And now that the kids are getting older, they can do it themselves!! YAY INDEPENDENCE

So there you have it…6 of my clever meal time hacks.

I promise you will thank me later when you start implementing some of these ideas.

This is how I attempt to get it all done!!
